Professor Dr. Artūrs Škute of the Institute of Life Sciences and Technology has been recognized as one of Latvia’s most prominent scientists, including him in the calendar “ResearchLatvia 2025” created by the Ministry of Education and Science. This calendar for the eighth time honors Latvia’s most outstanding researchers, whose achievements promote the country’s scientific recognition internationally.
The official launch of the calendar “ResearchLatvia 2025” will take place on January 8 at 4:00 p.m. at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA), K. Barona Street 1, Riga.
The calendar brings together 12 leading Latvian scientific institutions, confirming our country’s significant role in the European Research Area and the global scientific arena. Twelve outstanding personalities – six male and six female researchers – contribute to the development of interdisciplinary national and international science centres through their work.
At the opening ceremony of “ResearchLatvia 2025“, the 12 scientific institutions included in the calendar will be presented with the Member of researchLatvia certificate, created by the Ministry of Education and Science for its science communication platform researchLatvia, , confirming their significant role in the development of science in Latvia.
Professor Artūrs Škute, who has been working at Daugavpils University for more than 30 years, including more than 20 years as a professor, has devoted his scientific work to research on the conservation and sustainable use of aquatic biological resources. In addition to his research, he is actively involved in academic work, lecturing in the fields of ecology, hydrobiology, and aquaculture in doctoral, master’s, and bachelor’s degree programmes.
