International Scientific Conference “History: Sources and People”

On May 8 and 9, 2025, the international scientific conference “History: Sources and People” will take place, organized by the DU Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Experienced and young researchers from five countries will present their research in history and related scientific fields. The conference will place special emphasis on regional history – research into the past of Latgale and Sēlija in the context of historical events in Latvia and Europe.

The conference will feature presentations reported by the VPP project Navigating the Latvian History of the 20th-21st Century: Social Morphogenesis, Legacy and Challenges (VPP-IZM-Vēsture-2023/1-0003) professor Irēna Saleniece (DU Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences), DU HSZI researcher, docent Maija Grizāne, and the joint doctoral study programme “History and Archaeology” graduate Haralds Bruņinieks.

Conference will take place in person at Prof. J. Veinbergs Auditorium (Vienības 13, Room 312) and online via  Zoom platform.
