On August 12, researchers from the UNESCO Department at Daugavpils University, Liene Briede and Elga Drelinga, participated in a seminar for education practitioners held in Riga. The event was organized by the Latvian Platform for Development Cooperation (LAPAS) and brought together professionals working in the field of global and development education.
The seminar focused on the joint review and revision of the Latvian Code of Good Practice for Development Education. This document serves as a strategic tool to promote high-quality global education, integrate ethical and sustainability principles into educational initiatives, and strengthen cooperation among organizations working in the sector.
Paula Anškena, Head of Education and Sustainability at LAPAS, shared recent developments in the field of global education, highlighting current trends, innovative methods, key initiatives, and opportunities for collaboration. Education practitioners from Daugavpils University, Riga Technical University, and representatives of non-governmental organizations took part in discussions on the piloting plan for the Code of Good Practice, as well as the network’s future development and objectives.
The activities of the Global Education Practitioners Network are carried out within the framework of the Erasmus+ project “Global Citizenship Education Code of Good Practice & Community of Practice: Ireland & Latvia.”
