On December 11, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Daugavpils between the Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia, Daugavpils State City Municipality, and Daugavpils University, establishing cooperation within the framework of the Authenticity Cities Network project.
The initiative aims to promote awareness and engagement in issues related to intellectual property protection and authenticity. Over the coming year, a series of joint activities will be organized in Daugavpils and at Daugavpils University, including educational events, discussions, and practical initiatives designed to foster a deeper understanding of authenticity and innovation-related challenges. As part of the agreement, the Patent Office of Latvia will also contribute to the integration of intellectual property topics into the university’s academic environment—particularly through the inclusion of these themes in the study process and student-focused initiatives such as design competitions and other creative activities.
Given Daugavpils’ status as a university city, such collaborative projects are a natural and essential step, reinforcing the role of higher education institutions in addressing key societal and economic issues in cooperation with local and national partners.
