Today, on November 29, 2025, the Rector of Daugavpils University, professor Arvīds Barševskis, met with His Excellency the French Ambassador, Mr. Manuel Lafon Rafnuy (Manuel Lafont Rapnouil). The meeting was marked by an engaging and constructive dialogue.

The Rector and the Ambassador discussed the role and significance of Daugavpils University in the city of Daugavpils and the Eastern Borderland. Topics included the potential for closer cooperation in scientific research, the training of French language teachers, and partnerships with local schools to promote interest in French language studies. They also touched upon the organization of Francophonie Days and the European Researchers’ Night, as well as possibilities for enhancing academic mobility with French universities.

Opportunities for collaboration with French companies operating in Daugavpils were also explored, alongside several other promising areas of cooperation.
