“METHODS for ESD – COMPETENCIES AND CURRICULA” Project’s dissemination meeting in Latvia

From April 26-27, 2018, within the framework of the Erasmus+ project „Methods for ESD – competencies and curricula” (MetESD), No. 2015-1-DE-02-KA202-002346 Daugavpils University’s project team has welcomed all project’s partners from Ger
many, Austria and Latvia who took part in the dissemination event at Daugavpils University. The aim of the meeting was to share the progress on implementing sustainability idea in a vocational school. The participants of the project took part at the 60th international conference at Daugavpils University and presented cases of good practice from each country’s context. Latvian team presented the handbook on methods and activities for ESD. More than 325 participants from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Austria, USA, United Kingdom, Belorussia, Russia and Ukraine attended this conference.
During the meeting project’s partners discussed the process of integrating sustainability in the school’s curriculum and practice.
The Met-ESD project focuses on curriculum, however for the ESD to be successfully implemented in the curriculum a whole institutional approach needs to be adopted. Whole school approach in the institution demonstrates to the students the importance of sustainable development.
During the meeting the participants attended Daugavpils vocational school and discussed the progress and the challenges of implementing sustainability in the school’s curriculum. During the seminar the participants discussed further plans of networking and cooperation.
