BaltNord network for science communication

A new Nordplus Horizontal project “BaltNord network for science communication” (Project number NPHZ-2016/10035) has been started on the 1st July 2016 for the period of 1 year. The project was elaborated and will be implemented by consortium of 4 partners: Daugavpils University (DU), Latvia (coordinating institution), Science Centre AHHAA Foundation (AHHAA), Estonia, Šiauliai University (SU), Lithuania and University of Iceland (UI), Iceland.
The project is designed to solve such issue as diversification and development of science communication events in Baltic and Nordic region through best practice and positive partners’ experience.
The overall project objective is to create cooperation network to exchange experiences and good practice in order to promote education in cross-sectoral dimension through development of science communication activities in the Baltic and Nordic region.
Specific objective of the project is to foster professional skills of students, school teachers, university lecturers, specialists, researchers, etc. in science communication to diversify and improve the quality of science communication events.
To achieve all project aims a course of actions is planned as several complex activities implemented by all project partners. The formats will involve activities both face-to-face and video mode and will include:
1. Two international workshops (experience exchange seminars)
2. Researchers’ competitions
3. Science communication training course – twice during the project period.
4. Science Festival in Daugavpils, Latvia.
5. Project partner meetings
6. Dissemination and publicity activities.
The expected impact of the project results is increased knowledge and experience of the involved target groups – project partner specialists, students, lecturers, researchers, teachers, pupils etc.
Project financing from Nordplus Horizontal programme is 50 000 EUR.
