The Aim of The Study Programme

is to prepare qualified and competitive artists who have new, up-to-date knowledge in music matters and who would contribute to the development of the cultural environment of Latvia, especially the Latgale region, and would be able to perform artistically creative work, organize/manage artistic projects and conduct scientific research in the field of music.

Knowledge

  • demonstrates basic knowledge of languages and communication;
  • systematizes knowledge in music theory and history;
  • understands different types of playing in the art of playing music;
  • knows how to organize artistic projects;
  • understands music pedagogy and psychology.

Skills

  • to determine innovative goals and tasks, ways of achieving them and techniques;
  • to organize and plan artistic creative work in accordance with the set goals and objectives;
  • to select information and use it;
  • to choose a suitable concert repertoire;
  • to choose suitable means of expression for the performance, ensuring a high culture of interpretation;
  • to evaluate the artistic level of the interpretation of the composition, recording both achievements and shortcomings;
  • to find ways and methods of eliminating deficiencies;
  • to explain the regularities of music development;
  • to present the results of the work;
  • to realize your further studies with a high degree of independence;
  • to perform self-analysis, work independently and creatively.

Competence

  • to apply knowledge in the field of performing arts based on traditions and the latest knowledge;
  • to stage independently and publicly play instrumental/vocal compositions of various degrees of complexity;
  • sustainably maintain professional skills, constantly improving them;
  • to express your attitude by evaluating your own and other musicians’ professional knowledge and their use in artistic creative activity;
  • to analyze and evaluate compositions of different eras and styles;
  • to create a positive and creative atmosphere based on the understanding of professional ethics;
  • predict and achieve the result of artistic performance;
  • to select and use new information technologies in the study process;
  • to select and evaluate artistically high-quality music samples;
  • to organize and manage artistically creative projects;
  • to perform scientific research in the municipality.
